RIDGEWAYE U13 HAWKS 3 - JARVIS BROOK COLTS 0
Playing against a team you've already beaten convincingly the previous week is always a potential banana skin so the boys were told in no uncertain terms that if they think they'll beat them again just by turning up they'd be making a massive mistake; we needed to show the same hunger, desire and passion as last week to earn the three points.
With 14 players in the squad we started off the brighter of the two teams and often got the ball wide to Matt Leahy who terrorised their right-back only for him to turn back after he'd beaten the player, chances came and went until Matt Leahy hit the ball 15 yards out with the outside of his right foot into a gaping goal to start the celebrations.
Dan Streeter also came close to scoring when their keepers clearance came to him and his attempted lob was just tipped by their keeper and Alfie Blake who ran in just hit the side netting from a tight angle.
Kieran Streeter then made it 2-0 with a trademark race against their defence for pace which he won and slotted home.
At the back we were solid with Rowan Crouch in particular winning every ball he went for, Harry Allcorn's pace alongside him always helps us get out of sticky situations when the opposition do get through.
In the second half with players being rotated Ridgewaye lost shape and allowed Jarvis Brook on the ball more and threaten the Ridgewaye defence..
After a handball decision given against Ridgewaye on the edge of our box, Jasper Butler, keeper, lined his wall up in anticipation of a hard strike, the ball was struck well but Jasper , positioned perfectly, caught it midriff
A long run by Harry Allcorn followed by a shot that was saved fell to Kieran who had an open goal but the ball ricocheted off his knee and went agonisingly wide.
Another attack and goalmouth scramble where a few shots were either miss-hit, blocked or not hit hard enough left the ball out wide of the 6 yard box, Steven Sandmeier-Jefefrey showed good strength in holding his player off but was fouled resulting in a penalty which Keeper, Jasper Butler, struck low and hard in the bottom right hand corner of the goal to make it 3-0.
Other chances came, more notably for Kieran Streeter, Harry Allcorn and Alfie Blake but Ridgewaye failed to capitalise further leaving the Final Score at 3-0..
Rowan Crouch received the Captains Armband for his outstanding 1st half performance.
